About Me
My name is Kevin Silous and I have been practicing Yoga for 23 years. At the age of 18, I moved to London and, by chance (or maybe synchronicity), discovered a dusty old book in an empty house. This was to change my life and take me on a journey of self- discovery and deep philosophical enquiry. The book was ‘Cloud Hidden, Whereabouts Unknown’, by the writer and philosopher, Alan Watts. And so began my passion for the synthesis of Eastern and Western philosophy and theology; and I embarked upon the peaceful path through Yoga and Mindful Meditation.
Having enjoyed active careers in Dance and Semi-professional football, I completed a 2 year diploma in Health & Fitness and then began training in Iyengar Yoga with Ruth White; I attended many classes with other senior Iyengar practitioners, such as Chandor Remete (in Australia).
I spent a year in Australia working for Greenpeace and furthered my love and study of Yoga, Meditation and Buddhism.
I continued my travels through the West Coast of the USA, Nepal, Thailand and South East Asia, in pursuit of a deeper understanding of philosophy and the synthesis between Yoga and spirituality.
On my return to London in 1992, I began teaching for Ruth White. In 2000, I received my teaching certificate in ‘Yoga for Health’ (Hatha Yoga), recognised by The British Wheel of Yoga.
In 2004, I completed and was certificated in Anusara Immersions for teaching, Level 1 & 2. In 2007, a chance meeting with Ahbay Tulku Rinpoche (a high ranking Tibetan Buddhist Monk) blossomed into a deep spiritual friendship. I use much gained from our discourses in my teaching. I now live in Bedford and I am a full-time teacher of Yoga, Meditation and Martial Arts (6th Dan Kickboxing, 2nd Dan Ju-Jitsu).
Through my daily practice, I have enriched my own life and feel blessed to be able to help others enrich their lives in the same way. I integrate my knowledge and experience of different disciplines of Yoga and Meditation to create my own style of Tibetan Heart Yoga. I have created a safe environment in my classes and workshops to enable my students to increase fitness, confidence and flexibility; allowing them to develop an amazing sense of well-being.
Yoga can transform your life!
Now is the time for the lifelong journey of discovery.
All students, no matter their age, gender, circumstance, religious belief, or years of practice, can experience the profound healing of body, mind and spirit that is Yoga.
